    Those are nice !

Thanks for the FRs John / they're the first plots ( that I'm aware of ) that most of have seen for 299 drivers ( on any vintage Altec horn ).
    - Remind me please , which horn is this ( the 511E or the multicell ) ?

Anyways, those look really good ( maybe GPA will eventually publish something like this, sigh ) .

    - A little bit of nit-picking / could you please post your FRs in a 50 db vertical scale ( on a larger pic size ) with 1/6 octave smoothing .
    - This last pic is more like something that I would expect from a marketing type ( 80 db vertical scale ) who wants things to be flat ( even when they're not ) .

Thanks Earl !! These were on the 511E and are the 299 25884 diaphram 288's Drivers# 3&4 After testing Drivers 1&2 288 23763 diaphram 288's I mounted them on my 1005A's as I'm using them until my bass bins get finished

I will however re-measure them on the Multi's for my own curiosity to see if they measure better than the 511.If they do they will be going on top of the bins.

Your help is always welcome, Pano and I are going to check everything on the phone as it is a lot easier than email. To make sure there aren't any leaks or feedback into the measurements.

But your input is always helpful and welcome Thanks Earl for all your gracious support.Since I switched amps, and re setup gear, and disabled all other audio devices, measurements are going much more smoothly !! But Michael is going to help make sure 100%. :thankU: Michael too.Just to make sure that they are accurate for all concerned !!!

Just an update. We ran a calibration of AB's soundcard so that any future measurements will take into account the DAC-ADC loop.

I'm looking at the loops now to see how well it all went.

OK, an hour on the phone and I think we have it, by Jove!
Found a scratchy gain pot on the M-Audio card input we've been using. It was causing all sorts of trouble. Switched to channel 2 and everything is great. That was a tough one.

AB should be running more tests tomorrow. We should have better results.

Hmm, what is an analog pot doing on a supposedly measurement quality sound card in today's DSP environment?

It's a music sound card, not a lab sound card. The pots are there for musicians to tweak the knobs. Also setting analog gain is a good idea before hitting the ADC.

The pro music soundcards offer the best value for money for the DIY measurements. 24/96 or better and built in phantom power and mic preamps. This is the first serious problem I've seen with one.

But we may have been hasty in our diagnosis. The problem comes and goes and may, in fact, be windows Vista related.
